When I was young my parents both worked and they didn't hire a babysitter. I was the babysitter for the neighborhood kids. Throughout the summer we would be outside every day, hungry for adventure. One day we followed the backyard creek until it opened up to a Hemlock forest, shale creek beds, and towering sandstone walls. "Paradise" is what we fondly named our secret spot in the woods, because it was so stunningly beautiful and special to us.
This painting was the first professional depiction I created of this special place. The series was begun in 2014 with this piece, and completed in 2019 with Hidden Ohio Paradise. The original has traveled with me to three homes, and numerous art shows. I can always hike back to the sacred spot, but wouldn't you like a slice of Paradise in your home?
